Founded in 1959, the Iowa Roofing Contractors Association, (IRCA) is a professional
organization composed of contractors and associated firms involved in the roofing industry. Our group includes firms
from the commercial, industrial and residential areas, with steep and flat roof affiliations. We have member firms
from across the state of Iowa and border states including those people you bid against, buy from and discuss specifications
with.
Annual trade show conventions and social activities are held in conjunction with IRCA meetings. We have three meetings
per year, two are seminars held mid winter and fall, and one is a fun family affair in the summer including golf,
picnic and amusement park. Meetings are in differing locations throughout the state with new sites chosen in advance
at our general membership meetings.
Our seminars are on Friday and offer programs designed to teach more about our industry and how we may better function
with it. Programs have included speakers and discussions on past, present, and future roofing systems, marketing,
insurance, safety, and many other topics about our industry. Our speakers are recognized as leaders in their fields
and provide quality seminars. A general membership meeting is on the following Saturday morning and provides an open
forum for topical discussions.

All Active members of the IRCA are eligible to serve on the board of directors and contractor members may serve as
officers. A slate of proposed directors and officers is presented each year at our annual meeting, usually held in
late January, by a committee made up of past presidents of the association. Nominations from the floor at the general
meeting are accepted at this time. Directors serve terms of two years and are made of five contractors and two associate
members. Officers are elected to a two-year term as: Chairman of the Board, President, First Vice President, Second
Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer. Each officer chairs a committee assigned by the title office.

The undersigned member in good standing of the Iowa Roofing Contractors Association subscribes to and will be governed
by the following Code of Ethics.
The member will exercise the highest degree of skill and care in performing the work contracted by him in strict accordance
with the plans and specifications. He will carry out all contracts, whether written or oral, according to their bona
fide intent. He will call to the attention of the owner or architect any portion of the plans or specifications, which,
in honest opinion of the member, may result in the application of an unsatisfactory roof or flashing.
The member believes that fair and open competition is in the public interest and forms the cornerstone of the American
economy. He will use his best efforts to secure and further such competition and will decline from engaging in any
practice, which has as its objective, or result in the restraint of competition. He will not alter a bid submitted
in competitive bidding after the bids have been opened except when a substantial change is made in the work or when
further bidding on alternate items is requested. He will discourage "bid-peddling" practices, and will not condone
"bid-shopping" practices if engaged in by general contractors.
The member believes that business integrity in the only sound policy for business success. He will not make false
or misleading statements concerning the products and services he sells or otherwise engage in practices, which deceive
his customers. He recognizes that the failure to disclose relevant information might be as misleading as a positive
misrepresentation. He will not advertise that his products or services are guaranteed without disclosing the nature
and extent of such guarantee, and where possible, will use Association approved guarantee forms.
The member takes pride in his business, and will endeavor constantly to improve the roofing contracting industry of
which he is a part. He will support the activities of his Association, participate in its projects and programs, and
cooperate in exchanging information with other roofing contractors relating to new materials and methods. He will
respect his fellow roofing contractors and refrain from any disparaging statements concerning them.
The member recognizes that his welfare and success are dependent upon the competence and skill of his workers, and
will be guided by principles of justices and fairness in his dealing with them. He will honor the spirit and letter
of any collective bargaining agreement to which he is a party.
The member knows that ethical conduct must be based upon mutual trust and honor. He assumes responsibility for fostering
the growth of mutual honor and trust within his industry and in his relations with the public whose safety, well-being,
and comfort are his ultimate concern.
